Kellie & Dianne,

Thanks for the mini tut! It makes perfect sense and boy does it sound tedious! That would make for a great tutorial in the Ezine!

Just trying this now...
I put a blue folder on top of the lace I am scanning..
and when I have the image in my PSP I selected the erase background eraser. I used the colour picker to set my background colour as the same blue that I scanned.. now I am just going over the whole image with the eraser..
Seems to work well on the edges but its messing with the inside of the lace..
I guess cause the lace is very transparent.. the blue is coming thru the lace in the thin areas..
so much for the quick fix.. but I like the edges better on this one.. the 1st one I jsut used the eraser brush with no blue background and it was a mess..

Instead of using the background eraser, try using the magic wand to select the background. You can fool around with the "tolerance" setting and keep selecting and unselecting until you get it right. Then, I would do a small feather (1-5 pixels depending on the size and detail of the lace you're working with) to soften the edges just a tad when you erase it. Then hit "backspace" to erase it. Then zoom in and move around to check that everything looks right. If not, click Ctrl+Z to undo it and try again.

Another thing is you can set the magic wand to "continuous" and it will only select those pixels that are touching the pixels you select and similar in value to the color you click on. Then you can work in sections.
