Transfering photos and elements in organizer to a new computer

I just got a new computer (YEAH!!). Now I have the task of transferring everything from my old one to my new one. I have spent a lot of time organizing my photos and elements in the organizer (in PSE 3), but I have no clue how to move it all that work to a different computer. If I do the catalog backup I think I can use that, but if I'm thinking right it will lose all the connections to the original files. I hope this makes sense to someone. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Try this costs about $30 at TigerDirect.com. For the cost it will save you all sorts of time. And, you'll have it the next time around. Just link the cable between the two computers and you're ready to go....

USB Data-Link Cable
CTG's USB Data-Link cable is an excellent solution for host-to-host file transfer between two computers via USB ports. The cable provides true Plug-and-Play capabilities with transferring files at much greater speeds than traditional file transfer products via serial or parallel connections. The USB Data-Link application program, a Windows Program Manager-like user interface, provides a simple to use environment that makes transferring files as easy as performing a drag-and-drop. You simply plug in the USB Data-Link cable and do a one-time installation of the program.

I'd do a catalog back-up, and then reconnect the files. It can batch reconnect them if you point them to the right place. I routinely will download a kit, tag it, then realize I don't have the folder the way I want them. It's not too hard to reconnect, although I suppose it could get time consuming if you were doing the entire catalog. Take it one disc at a time...

Thanks

Thanks for your help! I tried connecting the computers, but had trouble so I went to putting the catalog back up files onto the new one and reconnecting the files. So far it isn't too bad to reconnect, but it does take some time. Oh well, it doesn't have to be done today. Thanks again!
