Exclamation UPDATE SITE AND STORE ISSUES - PLEASE READ

To our SBB friends,
To our SBB friends,

You may know by now about the unfortunate incident that occurred where the server company that hosts www.scrapbook-bytes.com had a fire that has caused irreversable damage to the particular server that hosts the SBB Store including the destruction of the backup files usually used to restore things in cases like this. This is not an easy thing to recover from and will take time to resolve as it involves gathering and re entering every detail of the store including design, scripts, coding, descriptions, images, cart and payment software, links, the co-operation of the individual designers and many other time consuming and challenging tasks.

The store will have to be rebuilt from scratch and is likely to take at least a week to restore basic operations. Until this time the store will be offline. The status of orders taken since October 1st is currently unknown. We expect to have a definitive answer on the recoverability of this information in 48 hours or so, so please keep an eye out for further information at which time you may be asked to contact SBB if you have placed an order since October 1st. Please do not email regarding orders made since October 1st until another announcement is made in 48 hours or so as we cannot resolve this issue until that time.

In addition, sometime last week the servers (SBB runs on multiple servers with the same host) were exploited by someone to run spam scripts causing problems with the site scripts and as an additional result the IP was blocked by some ISP companies who monitor SPAM. if you or someone you know cannot access SBB you may need to contact your ISP for assistance or try your ISP's help website files or google "fix blocked IP address"

The issues have also interrupted email reciept and sending for the various admin and customer.service email addys used by SBB an dthere is a large backlog. If you have emailed in the past few days please be patient in expecting a response.

Please understand that SBB is doing everything within its power to restore and resolve these issues and will continue to work hard to ensure that members can enjoy their experience at SBB. Things were further complicated by SBB attendance at the Convention at the time of the crisis.

To recieve updates on these issues you can visit the site www.scrapbook-bytes.com or join the Announcement Only Scrapdigital yahoo list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/scrapdigital/ or check the www.sbbteamupdates.com blog. We will endeavour to keep you up to date with the issues.

Please feel free to share this information with other sites, blogs and friends so everyone is as informed as possible

Thank you for your understanding and patience

Amy Edwards and the SBB Team

Exclamation ANOTHER UPDATE: ORDERS AND ACCESS

www.scrapbook-bytes.com UPDATE

SITE ORDERS:
If you have ordered between October 1 – 15th please email your order list (confirmation) if you ordered via PayPal so that we can send a voucher to repurchase those items when the store is reinstated. If you need the files IMMEDIATELY please advise and we’ll do our best to provide those to you.
Email to customer.service@scrapbook-bytes.com Ensure your email also includes your Store LOGIN name and email address details.

We will happily look up your order and send a voucher to repurchase items that need downloads when our store has its GRAND REOPENING!

ACCESSING SCRAPBOOK-BYTES GALLERY & FORUMS
We have had much input from many members and design team that they are unable to access the main scrapbook-bytes.com site and/or forum & gallery. This has been discovered due to IP’s being blocked by the hosting company for some reason. As you can see above; we have had many issues with this provider and plan on moving this area of Scrapbook-Bytes from the current provider to our new hosting provider as soon as that server has been built and ready for data to be moved. Downtime should be very minimal for the gallery & forums.

Quick Update:

A new server has been purchased and the store will begin its rebuilding process interface hopefully tomorrow depending on how quickly the Cisco firewall can be put into place. Once that is completed the store rebuild will begin as quickly as possible and depends on how many designers participate in the rebuilding process and their desire for quick reposting.

Also regarding Scrapbook-Bytes main site and the IP blocking issues. We are moving the entire site to a new server - set of 8 new IP's and also a firewall in front of the servers. We have been assured that behind this type of firewall it would be highly unlikely to suffer this type of thing again.

I have received NUMEROUS emails lately stating that many other digital scrapbooking sites have been suffering from malicious spam and hack attempts. Unfortunately SBB is large enough that it's noticed in a HUGE way.

I want to thank those who have offered help to SBB in this time: Nancie and Michelle (ScrapArtist), Katie Pertiet (Designer Digitals), Brenda Kempf, Correen Silke & Jeanine Beachtold (RakScraps), and Stacey Mann (3Scrapateers). This outpouring and offerance of help in various forms has been just amazing and we appreciate all the input and extended hand of help! I can't tell any of you how wonderful it has been and I thank each of you for being there in our time of need!
