Here is one of a few threads that turned up when I searched for calibration:

Put simply, what you see on the screen will not match exactly to what you print out. You have to make it match using either the printer software or monitor calibration....
You also need to send the highest resolution file for printing [300 dpi, usually] for it to be of the best quality [web quality is only about 72 dpi]. Also the make and model of your daughter's printer also is important.
