I don't know if this is still true (but I expect it is). You can use the AutoFX software all by itself. You don't strictly have to use it as a plugin for ANY program.

Save the file you want to mess with by itself. Close your art program. Open any of the AutoFXs, load in your pic, and have at it.

But, to answer your question, the software will work in ANY program that uses the Adobe Plugin standards.

I don't know about PhotoImpact, because I don't use it, but your documentation or help file should address the type of plugins it can handle. If it says it uses the Adoble Plugin standard, you're good to go.
