I wrote a tutorial on stitching with DIP for the Ezine..I believe either March or Aprils.
But the basics of the idea is using the hyphen key - to simulate the straight stitching or the x for cross stitching and then using distort to give it a bit of crookedness. You can also paint with the paint brush set very thin to trace shapes.
