Now I notice that this Mardi Gras font (for example) is a .png file--I guess that's why I couldn't use it after I installed it in the windows font file (most of those fonts are ttf files...)? So what do all you digital scrappers do with .png fonts? Do you open the .png font file you want to use, then cut & paste each letter as you need it?
And you are right, btw--I am already SO glad I found this site. You folks are amazing!!! I am blown away by the talent of the folks here

EDITED TO ADD: That's exactly what I did, cut & paste the font with the freehand tool!
