Not sure if it is mentioned in the article or not (since I didn't read them yet) but you can "fake" this HDR process as well with a single photo. Take a RAW photo (you can use JPG too but the results will not be as nice) and just process it using 3-5 different exposures (+.5/-/5. +1/-1).. then save each copy and go through the same processes in Photoshop... You'll get the same HDR without the need for 5 different photos (and will not need a tripod nor need to keep the shot exactly the same). Enjoy!
