Amy, you can also thin down plain white glue and use the same as "modge podge". I second Cindy, if you're printing out your paper on inkjet printer then you need to seal, or only dab when applying any kind of liquid adhesive on the top. I think heat wise if you just spray over the surface with a sealer (there are lots of different kinds in the craft department) once it's completely dry you'll be fine, the sealer will also help to keep things from lifting and ripping after time. You might spray several coats of sealer, to make it extra durable
