When I was in college and had a writing assignment (I had a lot - I have a degree in English) I would often do a little exercise to get the creative juices flowing. I'd start by writing the main idea in a circle in the middle of the paper. Then I'd write everything could think of about that main idea around the circle. This helped me narrow my focus and figure out exactly what I wanted to write about. It looked kind of like this.
So anyway, I thought that might be a cool way to do a scrapbook page, but on a simpler level. You can be as elaborate as you want to be and use a variety of shapes or symbols.
Start with a photo or with a word and make that your topic. Then all around it list ideas about that topic.
