Hello,
Which tablet do you have, and did you try to adjust the settings in it's control panel?
I have the Intuos 3 and even after I adjust the setting in it's control panel for PSP it helped a lot but still needed to play with the PSP brush settings.
I am by no means an expert on Wacom pen settings!! So I just played with them and for the most part have mine set to the soft/lower pressure end of the scales.
Here again I might be missing something but heck this works for me!
First the brush setting which I also saved as a brush preset and it is set to behave like a lite marker or gel pen type line.
Round, Size 9, Hardness 2, Step 1, Density 100, Thickness 60, rotation 0, Opacity 80, Blend mode Normal Stroke Continous is checked. Everything in the Variance palette is set to default with Size being set to pressure.
Now the next thing I figured out is that I needed to find out my actual print size of my image, which for me is 32% zoom level on my image and adjust my brush tip size to that of what a pen would look like (the settings above) Then in order to write on that image (and not draw 2 inch tall letters) I needed to zoom into 80% and then write with the wacom table. Then I zoom back down to my print size of 32% which looks fine and gives me the correct size handwriting with the right size brush tip and it is a lot smoother. From there, I was was then able to figure out and adjust my brush settings if I wanted to doodle with a larger brush tip at a larger inch size drawing.
HTH's and can't wait to see what other says!

I will say that anything OVER zoomed in on is going to be pixelated.
