I generally have my materials pallete open on the R hand side of my screen. When you have the font opened and highlighted, go over to your materials pallete and R click on one of the boxes... this will open up the most recent colors you have used. If you don't care for those, hit the "other" button and you can use your dropper to 'choose' a color out of your LO.
