Yep, you sure can use purchased board books from the children's section of the dollar store! Use gesso or an inexpensive flat white paint on the pages first to cut the gloss, does not have to be perfect or opaque, just de-glossed. Then go for it! Print your pages and adhere, embellish with all kinds of goodies, cut out pockets and windows what-have-you. I did use modge podge to protect my pages after, as I wanted the book to be handled. Just use 2 thin coats rather than one heavy coat and you should be able to avoid bubbles. Good luck! The tutorial in the '06 Sept ezine is more detailed and is step-by-step with photos..
