I know there is something very basic I am missing, but I have not been able to find it so I was hoping someone else knows the answer.

Often I do not know exactly what size I want my photos/images to be on my lo until I get close to the end of designing it. My problem is that I cannot figure out how to resize individual layers while insuring that I keep the same proportions. In other words I can use the move tool to resize, but it is free hand so sometimes I end up stretching the picture more one way than another and distorting the image. So any hints that are out there I would appreciate.
