Ok guys, as I'm sure most of us have - I'm looking to move from a basic point and shoot to a 'real' camera. Problem is, other than wanting the ability to take multiple shots much quicker than my current camera, I really don't know what i want/need.

I want something suitable for a beginner that isn't going to cost a fortune, but will give me room to grow as a photographer (once I figure out what I'm doing) and of course great pictures of my kiddies. Any suggestions?
