I got the kit with mine and also the 75-300 lens. I recently bought macro filters for it. I don't think the 18-55 that came with the kit is the greatest lens but I can get some pretty good portrait type photos with it and some great macro shots with it and the macro filters. That said, I use the 75-300 most of the time. I take a lot of nature and landscape photos and it works great for that.
