Wait.. !! don't do it... please please do not buy PC equipment at a store like Best Buy. You are so much better off ordering it online... especially a Desktop computer! Firstly, you'll save $$$$ and secondly, you'll get much much better components.
Case in point.. I found a laptop in BJ's for my mom that looked great... nice specs and all it was $799. Being who I am.. I checked around online and found the exact same spec'd machine at Dell for $499...... I found 3 others for $525 at various other places..
Some other points.. Dual Core is overhyped... you can save some money and just put in a Athlon 64 3.0 CPU.
2GB is more than enough memory for photoshop on a new PC. You are much better off spending the add'l $$ on a good quality set of hard drives... you want a speedy system - get WD Raptor drives. You'll find the system is much faster than the extra 2GB of memory will provide (beside which only PS will even use it... most other programs just arent' designed or need more than 1GB of memory).
The reason things take longer to load on various systems has little to do with 2GB vs 4GB o f memory and more to do with your system as a whole. A new computer zips around because: a) you HD is not fragmented b) you don't have a ton of programs loaded in c) you don't ahve zillions of dll's moving into memory on startup d) no viruses/adware/spyware
I cringe everytime I hear someone want to buy a system in a store.. look around online and you'll see what I mean. That $1500 system can easily be had online for around $1000... check out xpbargains.com and go to Dell section and just follow the links. Good Luck!!!!
