I bought a Sony H5 and I absolutely love it. The reason I chose it over the Canon S3 is the huge 3" LCD panel, the extra megapixel, and how it felt in my hands. Other than that, they are very similar and you would get the same quality of photos from either. I wanted a zoom camera because most of my photos are of grandkids who stop what they are doing and "pose" as soon as they see the camera. Sorry to hear about Bran's experience. Based on the samples and experiences reported in dpreview Sony Talk Forum, I think there may have been something wrong with the camera. This camera is highly recommended by a lot of professional photographers if you don't want to go to DSLR. I have not experienced any problems with focus or indoor picture quality at all. I'll post some photos in my gallery as soon as I can, but I recommend looking at what it can do in the hands of better photographers in the dpreview forum.
