I've used a sony cybershot recently and while the pictures were quite nice, I would wholly recommend you look into Canon for P&S cameras... their powershot line has few equals and the price is great. The flip out LCD screens are the perfect solution to those times you want to get a picture at an angle that is less than ideal!
