if you want to make it "religious" stay away from the pastel colors. those colors are more for the secular celebration and do not represent the religious aspect of it. and stay away from bunnies, eggs, etc. those have nothing to do with the religious aspect.

use rich colors, like purples, silvers, stained glass would be nice with rich colors. also maybe flowers - like wild flowers. Purple specifically is a color that symbolizes Christ's resurrection

i have no problem with the use of crosses, as it represents the religious aspect...the christian aspect of it

also scriptures made into word art
