Wow that's some jump! LOL. Seriously, I don't know too much about DIP but I do just want to say not to get too frustrated with yourself during the learning process. It will seem like you are not getting anywhere, but before you know it you'll be thinking "in photoshop" lol. I say you open photoshop and don't look back. Good luck! :-)
