one trick i like to use to get rid on dullness or red eyes in photos is to use the colour sample tool and sample the whitest part of the eye and then use my paint brush and paint over the whites of the eye ON A SEPERATE layer and then lower the opacity alot...this gives a brighter but natural looking eye.
