there are a couple factors you need to consider when going digital.

1. how big are you planning on making your images
the more pixels you have the clearer the image will be when you inlarge the photo

2. what type of photo shots are you going to be taking (ie. close ups, long range, still, action)
some cameras have settings for these types of shots and others do not
most now a days do so it will really depend on the range of the photo (zoom lens)



I personally have found that HP camera's can be a bit confusing for a beginner... my mother had one and was a royal pain... but once you use it a while it is tooooooo bad

The printers i currenly own a HP that i picked up for about $40 and it prints to the same specs the one you selected. Other than it prints the pages slightly slower. In my experience the speed really affects the price so if your willing to be patient a slower printer may save you a little.
