This was taken last May. The mom made a nest on our deck for the second year in a row. Every day when she went to get food I would go quietly and snap a couple of pictures. I got a day by day diary of their hatching. This one is a warm and cozy day and I have another one where one of the babies was hoping I was momma with a worm. His little beak is all the way open all ready for that worm! It's so cute!
I never stayed out but for a second or two so the mother didn't get upset with me. She kept a close eye on the nest and always returned as soon as I went away. She will probably be back again this spring, too.
