In PSP, you can also just draw the shape on top of the picture, make the shape somewhat transparent (change the opacity of the layer), then move around the shape (or resize it) until you get it on top of the part of the picture you want. Then, use the magic wand to select just the shape, then with that selection still active, change your active layer to the picture. Then, cut and paste that selection into your page.
