Finally added labels to my Picasa2.0!

I just thought I would share this for anyone who has not attempted this yet!!
In case you do not have picasa you can find it for free by just doing a search on google!!
A few other pointers, when you first start picsas you might not be able to see all the file formats it supports, go into the Tools>Options and check all of them on.
Also I found that picsas didn't show me some of my smaller elements and images...go to
View>and click on both:Show Small Pictures and Hidden pictures, that made it so all of my images are found and visiable...

A~Digital Previews
Digital Alphas
Digital Brads, Stones & Deco's
Digital Bows & Buckles
Digital Brushes
Digital Ribbons & Strings
Digital Buttons
Digital Charms & Jewels
Digital Clips & Fasteners
Digital Color Swatches
Digital Flourishes & Stamps
Digital Flowers & Butterlies
Digital Journaling Strips
Digital Papers & Edges - I added both the paper and paper strip if the kit contained it to this folder, that way when making a layout the matching paper items like these stayed together side by side!
Digital Paper Inked Overlays
Digital Photo Frames
Digital Photo Mats & Corners
Digital Photo Slide Mounts
Digital ******** "oops just noticed the sensor grabbed this word" P loppers
Digital Stitches
Digital Templates
Digital Word Art
Digital Word Tags
Digital Word Tags Empty
~Digital Dodads - This is just where I put stuff that didn't have any sort of common connection to anything else...

~Digital Fall - Fall stuff that I would never use in June!! hehehe and the same for the folders below
~Digital Winter
~Digital Easter
~Digital Spring
~Digital Valentines
~Digital Christmas

I added the A~ and the ~'s to hold these certain folders to both the top and bottom locations..
I also used the word "Digital" so that these folder stuck out really well incase I needed to fix something that I didn't understand when doing this. Of course you are totally free to name these things/labels whatever the heck you want to so that they make sense to you!!! LOL

Now when I started, I started with The first folder on the left that contained any digital item that I wanted to add a label to.

Right click on the image (says it is a frame) and select Add Label, then you can type in Digital Frame.
Now on the left you will see a drop down menu called Labels with the word Digital frames with a little tag to the left of it.
So keep doing this with every element in that first kit and give them all of the labels you need to.
If you have many papers, you can select all of them at once and label all of them at the same time.
This gets easier as you get all of your labels added, but you have to have a image selected to add a label...you can't add your labels first to begin with..empty tags you know?
You can also just rename your labels also if you find the need later on...
Like Digital Photo Corners to Digital Photo Corners & Prongs...

Later as you get better you can go through and grab papers or alphas and when they go down into your picture tray, holding each bunch as you go, you can grab from 4-6 kits, and label all of them papers at once. Then you can go back and grab all the word art and other things until you get everything labeled.

Then for hiding the folders...on your actions button to the right, click it and choose Hide Folder but do not assign a password to it...I selected the option to never select a password and disabled this option box.

Now way below on the left if you scroll down you will see another drop down menu called Hidden Folders, inside there you can see your hidden folders and you can also unhide them by selecting whichever one and then going into the actions button again and select Unhide Folder.

If later you find that you goofed by adding a certain element to the wrong Label category you can simpily click and drag it to the right label tag at the left. and then select that same item that was in the wrong spot, right click and choose to remove from label, it will remain in the new labeled area, but will be removed it from the wrong label area.

Picasa also finds out it you have duplicate items inside the same label, so if you forget and add the exact same thing twice...it will not add it twice...

I also deleted a few items that I just knew I would never never use from inside picasa!!
ADDED: WARNING DO NOT DELETE anything that belongs to your computer programs and files!! When you delete or move images around within folder in Picasa, you are also deleting them from your computer and moving them around with in your physical folders on your hard drive!!
Nice way to get some things cleaned up also. Also removed any uneeded folder from being searched when picasa opens up...one that show me what is in my programs folder and such...any folder that I don't care about what is in it for the program to run!!! LOL

I didn't label my photo's or any of my personal items in picasa, but I might do that just so I do not have to open my Folders on Disk drop down menu area.

Now lets say you have a new kit and you unzip it and it goes into another sub folder on your hard drive inside the same kit designers folder....when you need to find those items to add labels to them...just start down the line of lists at the left and look for any folder that has a little green dot by it and select that one and you can see the new stuff in there. Sometimes the papers come in a folder by themselves named paper, so you will see a new folder on the left called paper. Alphas are good at doing this also...you can also search for new items using the search and setting it to like within two days and then anything that Picasa finds will show up...

You can still do a search like you used to by just typing something in like a button, all the locations that have a button will show up, but for those kits where they didn't file name it with the word "button" now will show up because you labeled it a button...

The only thing I do not like is how Picasa shows me the .pngs on the word arts.

You can do a lot of clicking and dragging also between the frames in picasa, and I am sure I over simpilified this for you...hehehehe I am not implying that you can't do this by yourself on your own at all....I just wish someone would have been able to help me out when I started...I had a few trial runs at it before I got it right!! LOL

You can also add stars to images, but I don't know why I would want too...hehehe
From your labeled items you can also right click and choose find fodler on disk, then you can get the TOU read me file and find any info about the kit you need to have to give proper credits to the designer of it!!

If you have picasa and haven't done this yet...you should it is great!!
