Becky, zip all of the files. Your kit is likely to be very large. Also, a PNG supports transparency while a JPEG does not. If you convert an element to a JPEG it will have a white background. It is pretty standard for all elements to be in PNG formats, and backgrounds to be in JPEG format. All at 300 dpi of course. If you have any more questions let me know!
