you will need to understand how to work with "layers" to really make use of Photoshop and digital scrapbooking. Everyone here is really great about answering questions and helping out. Also, I recommend reading as many of the new post each day as possible. This is what I've been doing and little by little I've been able to pick up a lot just by the questions that other people are asking and the answers they get.
Visit the section in the forums about Photoshop, you can learn a lot they are also.
