Using Paths to create a border within a photo.
There are many ways to create a line border within your photo in Photoshop. This versatile method uses paths and brushes.
Open your photo to your canvas.
Create a New Layer
Select the Rectangle Shape Tool on the Tools Palette
On the Option bar select the Paths Tool.
Draw out your border in the position you require.
From the tools palette select the brush tool. Select a hard brush and brush size – in this case 9px
Select a foreground color to suit – here I’ve just selected the default black
On the Layers palette switch to the Paths Tab
Right click the Work Path and select Stroke Path
From the drop down menu select Brush, deselect Simulate Pressure and choose OK
The photo will now have an inner border, stroked by the brush you chose.
Deselect the Work Path by clicking anywhere on the Paths palette and switch back to Layers view.
You can select any brush to stroke with
