This tutorial will explain how to delete a solid color background in a photograph using Photoshop 7.0.

Step 1: Open the image you want to use. File > Open and duplicate it. Delete the locked background layer.

Step 2: Select the Magic Wand Tool from the Tools detachable menu.

Step 3: Once you have the Magic Wand Tool selected, you can adjust the tool’s properties. These are the settings I will use to select the white background: New Selection, Tolerance: 20, Anti-Aliased, and Contiguous. Click on the white background. If the entire white background is not selected, while holding down the Shift key, click on the remaining white areas with the magic wand tool.

Step 4: Press the Delete button. Press Control + D to deselect your selection. You should only see the image on a transparent background.

Step 5: Save the image as a PNG file. This will preserve the transparency.
