Scrapbook-Bytes members are fast taking over the hello ™ network to scrap, chat and share. Hello ™ is a free download program developed by Picasa™ with Google™.
The software is similar to instant messaging such as MSN however while you are chatting you can instantly share high quality images along with your messages Hello ™ allows you to view and download only jpg format files. This ability is ideal for digital scrapbookers who like to share the layouts and ideas or the latest photos they are working with. It also perfect for exchanging high quality files without the hassles of email file size limitations. While currently you can only have a two person conversation, the developers are working on a multi user system.
Hello can be used with ease over both dial up and broadband connections and uses secure encryption to block unauthorized access so there is no need to adjust your firewall and you are not at risk of virus attack. You can restrict your contact list and must give users permission to become a hello™ buddy.
Downloading hello™ is simple. Select the download page and enter the information requested. The file downloads and you can install where desired.
The online Help files give comprehensive and easy to follow information for getting started with and using hello™. Very simply when you launch hello you are faced with the interface below (I have blocked the visible names on my friends list with blue lines).
Hello has an intuitive interface suitable for any level of user. You can create a profile to display, including a photo or image and determine your choice of options.
Use the Friends menu to add or invite friends to join your contact list. Sending a picture couldn’t be easier. Simply choose Send Pictures...you can then choose a picture from Picasa if you have it installed or just use your Windows Explorer browser to search your hard drive for the image. The image will appear in your talk mates’ viewer almost immediately – you can even see what they are seeing by using the unique Follow Friend option. Hello can store a record of the recent files you have shared and can archive a conversation.
