This tutorial will show you how to create a background paper with a grunge effect using Paint Shop Pro.

1. Create a new file (File>New), 12” x 12”, 300 dpi, transparent background.

2. Fill the area with a color of your choice by using the Flood Fill Tool

3. Switch to the Burn Brush Tool and select a brush style of your choice.
4. Begin burning your background paper by placing random marks on the paper.

5. Experiment with brushing along the edges more heavily than in the middle of your paper.

6. Add texture if you like.

7. Be sure to experiment with various opacity levels and brush types and sizes. Have fun!
