Well by now, you probably know that I
got new kitchen flooring instead of a drawing Wacom Tablet so here is a work
around. I have to say however, this is a lot cheaper and less aggravating not
having to figure out the pen! So for those of you still sitting on the fence,
check out this tut!!
Personally found it very relaxing to
doodle again on real paper, with real pencils and markers. Doodling kind of
brings a person back to study hall!! I almost can’t wait to take a long ride in
a car so that I can just sit and doodle stuff!!
After I filled an 8.5x11 of bright
white paper up with my doodles I scanned them in at 300ppi, opened them in PSP.
The heart & flower doodle are left with just pencil lines and the other lines I
traced over them with a black marker.
Right click on the Background layer
and change to a raster layer.
Using your selection tool, change the
settings to RGB Value, Tolerance: (about) 130, uncheck Contiguous, No feather
and click on Anti-Alias-Inside.
Select a part of your doodle (black
area), marching ants will then surround your black outlines. I also used the
bucket fill set to black to give my doodles a 100% filled color, otherwise I had
shades of gray in them.
Then copy/paste as new image:
You will probably notice small
artifacts left over or pencil lines that you want removed, using your eraser
takes care of these in a heart-beat!! :) This screen shot is zoomed in about 4
times larger so you can really see the stray specks and the uneven lines. At
normal viewing you will not notice the unevenness very much.
You can also play with your selection
modification setting to remove specks and holes, smoothing and even feathering
to get smoother edges.
Don’t get me wrong I still want a
tablet because I am hardware junkie, but for now, I just saved myself a little
bit of $$$!! J
