This tutorial will show you how to create a kaleidoscope paper and turn it into a frame in DIP using plug-ins.

Plug-ins used:
Eye Candy 4000
Kaleidoscope 2.1 available at http://www.mehdiplugins.com/english/kaleidoscope.htm

Open a new canvas and size to suit. I used 4”x4”
Insert shape/square. Resize to fit. Remove the line.
Fill with colour of choice.

Go to Effects/Filters/All and select Maze: True

Using the magic wand click on the lighter colour. Make sure “contiguous” is NOT selected on the Magic Wand Palette.

Now click on the Scissors Button to delete the lighter colour.

Now click on the Object Tool then anywhere on your canvas.

Go to Effects/Plug-ins/Kaleidoscope 2.1. Select Mirror and adjust the sliders to get the look you like. I mostly select either 6 or 8 petals and then click on Random until I get an effect I like.

Go to Effects/Plug-ins/Eye Candy 4000/Chrome. I used the following settings:

Click on Settings and select Silver.
See below for other settings.

Enlarged View

Now insert a shape/no line/stretch to fit. Colour to suit.
Drag this layer to the bottom.
Keeping this shape selected, go to Effects/Filters/All and select Pointillist Blocks

Change the Coverage to 100%. Click on Done to return to workspace.
Still keeping this same layer selected, go to Effects/Filters/All and select Texturizer.
Click on Done to return to workspace. Enlarged view below.

Go to Edit/Flatten All Objects.
Select the Marquee Tool and mark out a square.
On the Marquee Palette select “adjust selection” and resize/position to suit.

Now click on the Scissors button to delete this selection.
Click on the Object Tool button. Then click on your frame to make it active.

Go back to Eye Candy 4000 Chrome filter and apply the same settings as before.
(By default the settings will be as you last used them.)

Save as PNG.

Experiment with different filters and chrome colours. The combinations are endless.
