There are as many styles of word art out there as there are scrappers/designers. There isn't a wrong way to create word art, but the best usually has different colors/fonts/text directions or a combination of all the above.

To begin, find/create the quote/text you want to turn into a piece of art.

Open a new document (300dpi) with a transparent background. This is very important. You do not want to create any of your text/design on a white/colored background. You want to be able to save this with a transparent background, so be sure to start it that way.

There is no definitive way to create word art except for having a transparent background. Below are several samples by Trish Jones used with her permission and available on her Eclectic Mix CD here at SBB that I think are perfect examples of great word art.

After creating your word art, save it as a .PNG file to preserve the quality of your work and the transparent background.
