It’s actually very simple to do and
very few steps.
I have started out with an 8 x 8
palette – you can choose whatever size you’re comfortable with or whatever size
your element is that you would like to do stitching against.
I am using red specifically so that
the stitching will show up
Now choose your brush tool from the
palette.
Make sure you have chosen square
brushes from the drop down box

Make sure to create a NEW LAYER to
place your brush strokes on. I actually place each stroke direction a new
layer. It’s easier to delete if I make a mistake.
In the brushes palette you need to
enter the following settings for your brush. The brushes palette is located at
the top of the Photoshop toolbar to the right. There should be a tab – click
there to adjust your settings.
Now enter the following settings:

Now to create straight line stitching
hold down the SHIFT + ALT key at the same time while dragging your mouse across
the screen. This will create perfectly horizontal or vertical stitches.
(EXTRA: If you need a diagonal hold
the SHIFT KEY and CLICK and then CLICK at the spot you would like to have the
stitching end. This will fill in the spots in between.)
This is blown up to 100% to adjust
the detail settings this helps to visualize a bit better.
Now click on the layer in your LAYERS
PALLETTE
Now enter the following settings:
Now your stitching should look
something similar to this:
Making sure that your BRUSH DYNAMICS
is set to DIRECTION for angle jitter can help create unique stitching.
Enjoy making stitching it’s so much
fun.
It follows your direction path so
that you can curve around and the stitching will all stay in line.
