Request for Submissions

We are very excited about this portion of the Ezine. This is a place where our valu ab le members can contribute original layouts and have them published in Tid-Bytes. Our members are what make Scrapbook-Bytes what is, so we want to show our appreciation and gratitude by giving a free issue to those members who have a layout accepted for publication. You may submit as many layouts as you want, they must be original and never published elsewhere. All layouts must have proper credit given to all elements, fonts and techniques used. Please do not publish this layout to any magazines or online galleries until after the issue has been released. Then an “as seen in SBB Ezine” would be appreciated if you do show your wonderful layout elsewhere, although it is certainly not required to do so. A big thank you to all of you that have submitted so far and we look forward to all those yet to come. Please read carefully and take a look at the guidelines below for proper submission format.

HOT BYTES

What's HOT in computer scrapping!

By and (c) April Anderton

What's hot in scrapbooking? It all depends on you! Are you a trendsetter or a trend junkie? If so, you've come to the right place! The Scrapbook-bytes gallery is FULL of awesome trends and ideas for inspiration! Check out these gems!

Tippy Brushes

I first noticed this great effect on Amy's (pcloadmin) layouts in the gallery. There was something that caught my eye and made me look harder! I had to ask what it was she was doing and she let me in on her secret! Tippy watercolor brushes! Check out these layouts using this technique and then go get these brushes for yourself! They are available at:

Maps

It has been said that life is a journey so why not include a map when documenting it? Whether you are referring to a philosophy of life, or a first plane ride, a map adds a physical representation to a concept, feeling or experience. A map can be a metaphor or add detail to an actual event. Old, new, simple or detailed, try ‘mapping' out your layouts!

Twill Tape

Have you ever checked out the goodies in the free elements section at Scrapbook-bytes? If so, you will have seen some great twill tape accents appearing lately! There have been some eye-catching layouts in the gallery that have used twill tape placed across the page with text added to match the layout! It adds a shabby charm to the layout and a fun place for the eye to follow.   Finish it up with a button, tag or other embellishment for a polished look!

WHAT'S   NOT:

You all know it by now…NOT SCRAPPING is NOT HOT!! SO GET BUSY!

Remember that even elements that are HOT right now can quickly become cliché if overused, so keep your own personal style shining bright while applying these and other techniques.

Of course, the real judge of what's hot in scrapping is what's happening on YOUR layouts, so get to it!

August's Sketch

Each month, the Design Team puts out a sketch and the members at Scrapbook-Bytes create an original, creative layout following the design of that sketch.  At the end of the month, the Design Team votes for three winners to be featured here!  This month's sketch belongs to Design Team Member Shelleyrae Cusbert.

The competition was steep and votes were extremely close!  All the participants did a fantastic job and we'd like to give all of you a huge pat on the back!!!  Thank you to all who submitted a layout!

The winners will receive a voucher to use at our new online store worth the price of an EZine! Congratulations!

AD INSPIRED CHALLENGE

Sources for inspiration are endless. I find inspiration everywhere, from that commercial I saw yesterday on television to the color scheme in my daughter's cute little outfit. I especially love to look for inspiration in the pages of my favorite magazines. Each month I anxiously wait for them to come in my mail so that I can grab new ideas from the ads (of course the articles aren't too bad either, lol). In this column , we will feature advertisement s and present layouts showing how we were inspired by them. We hope that you will also find some element of that ad that will inspire you as well.

Journaling:
In just a month so much changes.
You were born weighing 2.8kg and in four short weeks
you have gained nearly 2 kg. You have grown 4cm longer.
Your body has filled out more though you still wear 0000 clothes. You have 80ml per feed. Your nails have grown so
long we had to cut them. You sleep well during the day but not
so well through the night keeping me up til 4am most nights.
The luguano has almost gone. Your hair has grown. Your eyes
are lightening and I think they will be blue like your daddy’s.
You are our beautiful baby. Our baby boy now one month old.
