If you are like me a lucky owner of Paper Capers 1 or Paper Capers 2 by Shelleyrae Cusbert of SBB, and are interested to see what we can do with the packs, look no further, we are going to do it here and now together. Use them with color or patterned paper or photos for a unique look.

Using Color and Papers
1. Open one of the png files with the Paper Caper of your choice in Paint Shop Pro.

You can tint it to produce the white paper with a slightly coloured shade to match the colour scheme of your choice by performing the following:

a) Shift+L or Adjust„³ Hue and saturation „³ colorize

Adjust Hue and Saturation levels accordingly to get the pleasing result, or until you get the match for the Paper that will be used underneath this Layer.

Save with a changed name as another png file to keep the transparency and enjoy it.
2. If you would like to get the finished result as a paper with a more pronounced solid colour, you can change the tactics, and floodfill (press key F on your keyboard to call for the bucket) the whole layer

Remember the result will depend on the colour of your choice, opacity, and blend mode of the layer. See the top of your screen.
You can also change the materials in the palette, and floodfill it with a pattern and or texture. See the example

Don¡¦t forget that again playing with the match mode, tolerance, blend mode and opacity can produce interesting results.
I particularly enjoyed this effect for instance

See the detail of the corner below:

Not bad.

3. You can also go about it in quite a different way, i.e. create a new Raster layer.
Right click on your Layer in the Layer palette on the right, and left click in the drop out list „³ New Raster Layer to create your new layer.

Now I flood fill the new layer (for a change I am using a gradient and texture), pay attention to the materials palette, I use all opaque and tick Use all layers, when I floodfill my new layer, to make sure that the new colouring applies itself only to the visible area.

And now for the fun part¡K
In your right side Layers palette change the layer blending modes as you like for new effects.

Here is the difference between some of the effects I got

4. There is yet another way to achieve a different look with your Paper Capers

I used Shelleyrae¡¦s ¡§Little girls¡¦ dresses¡¨ paper to demonstrate the effect.

Using Photos

Now you have two layers: background *your photo, and Raster 1, your Caper Layer.

Promote your Background layer to a raster layer. In the layer palette on the right, right click on the background layer, and select Promote Background Layer:

With your Raster 1 layer active (you click on it to make sure it is), and having selected magic wand among your tools, set match mode to opacity, and click with your wand anywhere on the raster layer, middle would do nicely, now you have the layer selected, go to the background layer, reverse the selection: Ctrl+Shift+I or on the top of your screen: Selections>Invert

Delete the edge.
Change the blending mode on the top layer to multiply, and your photo gets the crumpled texture of the Paper Caper:

Enjoy experimenting.
