1. Ctrl+N or Open > New Document of a small size, I did 98x98 pixels, white.
2. Image> Add Borders, pick your colour, I used pink, size in pixels 2. Click OK
3. You have a square looking like this
4. Now for the fun bit. Open a new document of a required size, I will use 3600x3600 with dpi of 300 to get me a 12x12” paper. Now call for a flood fill bucket by clicking F on your keyboard, go to materials > patterns and find your Image 1, resize as you please in the Material Properties (see below) to create a larger or smaller grid, and enjoy…
I had a bit of fun flood filling the parts of the larger grid with the smaller sized grid

Practice makes perfect, you can now easily make your grids in a variety of colours, grunge them up, texturize, or distort for a unique effect. Experiment and have fun!
Created as described before

Colorized blue
B (for brush) presets: Crosshatch, size 490, hardness 100, step 32, density 100, Opacity 40, blend mode burn
The same as above, only I added black border to original square, flood filled page with grid sized at 72%, and produced ink splodges in black using text tool, and font: Split Splat Splodge by David Martin, the font layer multiplied and opacity reduced.
to this paper I have added the assorted tubes: stitching tube to stitch on the flakes, and the circles of different colours.
The easiest way to change the appearance of your paper is to do the negative action, like this.
I have never made the graph papers before but this has been so much fun, I will have to think of the notepaper next. If you think of the new effects you could do with the graph papers, send me a link, I’d like to see!
