1. Open a new document (Ctrl+N) New image 12x12” Transparent. Selection tool (press key S) set to square out of the drop out menu

2. Make a square of desirable size. With the selection active go to Selection – Modify
Select selection borders, for this particular frame I have chosen setting “inside” with the border width of 125. If you want to have a slightly rounded square frame, choose outside instead, or even both sides. Experiment, do every time a different setting. Much more fun that way!

3. Now flood fill with desirable colour (F) Ctrl+D to deselect.

4. (B) key will call for your brush. Since our border is 125 pixels, I chose almost double the size for the scallop and a decent gap between the rounded bits. Play with the settings until YOU like the result.

5. Finish here or with the help of the key (X) = erase the little circles inside each scallop for the perforated look, or choose the eraser brush in the shape of a star, or flower, or a heart for the deco look.

6. Apply texture, and Perform the inner bevel action and you have a brushed metal looking frame. Remember to save your finished result as a png file to preserve the transparent background.

7. Repeat the steps from 1 on, selecting a different shape with the selection tool, fill in with colour or paper, to create the whole range of the frames.
