From YourSITE.com *Technique As always in Photoshop there are many ways to complete any one task. Applying a Sepia effect is no exception. You can employ a color overlay, or use Hue and Saturation or the presets available in Photo Filter. For more control over the results the addition of the Black and White filter is one of the better options.   The dialog will launch  Check the Preview box, and then check the Tint box. The color is applied to the photo.  Alter the Hue and choose the color you wish to apply. A sepia tone tends to vary between yellow and brown. Your choice on the spectrum will depend on your preference and the subject matter. This is looking a bit yellow for my taste so I’ve made slight adjustments to both the Hue and then the Saturation  With the general color right you can then use the color channels to tweak the results and emphasize or deemphasize different parts of the image. As an example by decreasing the Red Channel dramatically more strength and contrast is given to the shadows in the image.  Decreasing the green channel darkens the foliage  Manipulate the settings until you have the result you want.  While I’m satisfied the changes work for the image, a final tweak of the Saturation results in a slightly warmer image.  Select Ok to apply  © Copyright by YourSITE.com |
