There are times when being able to change the file type of many images at once comes in handy. In this instance I have dozens of texture files in jpg format that need to be converted to PSD to be able to be used in the Texturizer filter. Photoshop makes this simple and easy.
Open Photoshop and select File> Scripts> Image Processor
Find the folder of images that you wish to convert by browsing.
Choose where to save the resulting files.
Choose what file type to save as. In this case I am converting the files to PSD. You can also convert to jpg or tiff.

Make any choices from the Preferences section.
You can see the option to Run Action. This option allows you to run a specified action in bulk and save the results.
With your choices made choose Run.
Photoshop will then begin the process.
It will place all the resulting files in a folder labeled PSD in the chosen location.
