PROGRAM BASIC: Make a Quickpage from a layout

So, you’ve made a layout and would like to save it as a Quickpage so you can use it another time with a different photo. Firstly you must have a PNG+ layered file.

There are several important points to remember when saving future layouts so this method will work::
1. Don’t merge items that you may wish to change later e.g. Don’t merge text onto tags or journaling on backgrounds or journaling boxes. Keep all text and titles as separate layers
2. Don’t merge flowers/embellishments onto frames. If you have several embellishments on a frame, after you add shadows to them, you can merge the embellishments together BUT don’t merge the embellishments onto the frame.
3. Don’t merge overlays unless you have one on top of the other. In that case it’s okay to merge the two together. Just don’t merge the overlays with anything else. (There are some exceptions to this as you will see in the layout used for this tutorial.)

Open your PNG+ layout.

Remove text and titles:

In this case, the overlays are not on top of the photo but on the background. This is an occasion where you will need to merge the overlays with the background. Holding down the Ctrl key, click on the background and the two overlay layers. Now right click and flatten.

On the Stack, click on the bottom layer to make it the active.
Select the Marquee tool – square shape and uncheck “shape proportions”.

Mark out the part you want to cut out.
On the Marquee Palette click on “Adjust Marquee”.

Zoom in and adjust the marching ants. In this case I made sure the selection reached just inside the ribbons on the left and right on the right hand edge of the photo, making sure to select the bottom right corner of the photo.

When you are happy with the selection click on Done on the Marquee Palette.

Now click on the scissor icon on the toolbar

Now delete the original photo.

Go to Edit/Flatten All Objects.
Save as a regular PNG file: (Make sure you give your file a different name from the original.)
Close off the original file without saving any changes.

To use your new quickpage:
Open the quickpage.
Open a photo and drag it onto the quickpage.
On the stack, left click and drag the photo to the bottom.

Resize and position as required.
Now add any text and titles.
Save your work.
