Using gradients is quick and simple in DIP/DIS. You can use preset gradients or make your own two-coloured ones. Use them to make backgrounds or fancy text.

Open a new document, add a shape and remove the line.
Go to Effects/Fill with colour or texture/Gradient

The first option is to select a preset pattern.

Scroll through and try out the various choices.
Alternatively, you can make your own two-coloured gradient.

Choose one of the colour families on the left.

Now select a shade from the right.

Alternatively, you can select “More start colour choices” and use the colour wheel to customise.
The same option is available for the end colour.

You can now change the direction of the gradient.

Flip the gradient to swap the colours around.

Add some filters for unique effects.

You can now save this as png and use it to fill text or other shapes.
You can also add gradient directly to text. Insert your text and apply the gradient as above. Add filters/textures for many different effects.
