From YourSITE.com *Element Making a tag is simple. First, open a new file in the size of your choice, with a transparent background. We’re going to start by using the rectangle tool . You can use the materials palette to choose your color. Make sure that you select your color in the background and fill properties, and make the foreground and stroke properties box null, like this:  Before we draw the rectangle, we want to round the edges using the horizontal and vertical radius settings. I set each to 35.  Draw your rectangle, making sure to leave some room at the top of your rectangle. It should have slightly rounded edges, like mine:  Now go to Layers>New Vector Layer. Make sure the blend mode is normal, opacity is 100, link set is 0. Make sure “layer is visible” is checked. Click OK. We’re going to use the ellipse tool to draw a circle (or ellipse, whichever you prefer) that will help form the top of our tag. Draw your circle in the same color as your rectangle. Now go to Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste as New Layer. Move the two circles to the top of the tag as shown in this picture:  Make sure to place your circles flush against the edge of the rectangle. The circles should not extend beyond the rectangle’s edges. Let’s create another circle by selecting one of the circles, then clicking on Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste as New Layer. Place this third circle at the top middle of the rectangle, in between and a little higher than the first two circles.  Once you’ve got your circles in place, we’re going to merge everything on the screen. Click Layers>Merge>Merge Visible.  Now it’s time to punch a hole in the top of the tag. We’ll use the selection tool . Make sure the selection tool is set on circle.  Draw your circle selection in the center top of your tag. If your selection is not exactly where you want it to go, you can use the move tool to move your tag so that the selection is in the appropriate place.  Once you have your circle selection placed properly, go to Edit>Cut to make the hole in your tag. You’re done! Now you can embellish your tag as you please.  © Copyright by YourSITE.com |
