Try this technique on a variety of photos. You can create unique page elements and designs easily.

Select and open a photo, duplicate the whole project, to protect the original.

Select Effects> Filters > All Filters

Select Photocopy

Choose Change Advanced Options and manipulate the sliders to create well defined edges.

Click Done and Done to return to the main workspace
Select Effects> Filters > All Filters again
Scroll to find Stamp: Woodcut Fine

Select Change Advanced Options and experiment to create a balance between detail and line that pleases you.

You can choose to keep this image or if it still contains too much detail for you, Chose Done and Done and launch the Select Effects> Filters > All Filters again
This time scroll and find Cut Out

Choose Change advanced options and again manipulate the sliders til you are satisfied

Click Done and Done to return to the main workspace
For demonstration purposes, insert a square, stretch to fit and fill with any color except black or white. Drag the shape behind the photo

With the top layer selected, choose the magic wand and set the palette options to Smooth Edges, Tolerance 0 and New Selection

Click on any white space and the marching ants will appear
Choose Edit from the menu and then Delete

To remove areas that may be left, choose the Add to selection button, zoom in if necessary, click to select them and then choose delete.

Deselect by clicking on the Object tool and then anywhere on the canvas

Return to normal view. It looks quite messy.

With the line drawing selected choose Effects> Fill with texture or color> and choose black from the color palete

You can now add your stamp to your layout.
