From YourSITE.com *NEW Sometimes when you add a part of one photo into a second photo, such as I did with the seagull here, the background colors don’t quite match up. Also, there could be things in the background that may not quite match either as you place the other photo on top, such as the line of the surf in the photo below. There are several ways you can fix this: you can crop tightly to make a better match, use the brightness/contrast to adjust the color of the water to blend it in, or merge it into the original photo and use the clone paintbrush tool to make adjustments; but there’s a much easier way built right into PhotoImpact…its called the Matching Background Color Tool. 
First, use the pick tool to highlight the object that you want to blend into the background, then right-click with the mouse and the following menu will appear. Choose Match Background Color. This command will automatically be applied and will do all the work for you. You can also find this command in the Object Menu of the top toolbar.
