This tutorial demonstrates how to quickly create a rounded corner square or rectangle using the shape tool.
Open a layout or new document. Create a new layer above the paper you wish to shape using the new layer icon at the bottom of the layers palette. In this instance the cream paper is my background and I wish to shape the green patterned paper.
On the Toolbar, select Shape Tool> Rounded Rectangle Tool
On the Options bar, ensure Fill Pixels is selected
In the Radius you may enter any number you wish. The higher the number the greater the corners will be rounded. You may wish to try a number of variations. Here I have chosen 150 px
Ensure the new empty layer is selected then move your cursor to the document and click and drag to the right bottom hand corner to create the shape. Hold the SHIFT key to maintain proportion and create a square or simply drag to create a rectangle.
When you release the mouse button the shape will be created.
If its not quite right just delete the shape, create a new layer and try again adjusting the radius etc as desired.
With the move tool selected, position the rounded corner shape where desired, then drag the shape behind the layer you wish to shape.
Now select the layer above and right click on the layer to select Create clipping Mask or use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+ALT+G
To merge the paper and shape together right click the paper layer and select Merge Down.
The same steps have been used here to create a second rounded corner shape to complete this layout.
