You can create custom funky flower elements in Photoshop using standard brushes and shapes. This tutorial demonstrates how simple it can be to make these cute flowers!

Create a new document at 1200x1200px (4x4”) at 300ppi File> New
Press D on your keyboard to set the color picker to default.

Select the Brush tool on the tool palette and then open the brush tool palette, load the Basic Brushes. Select the hard round brush

Click on Brush Tip Shape and change the diameter to 50px

Set the spacing to 250%

Adjust the roundness of the brush to make it more elliptical. You can do this by clicking and dragging on the image to push the sides of the shape in, or type a percentage in the Roundness box. Use 65% and then adjust the Angle to -90 degrees.

Click on Shape Dynamics and ensure the Size and Angle jitters are set to 0. Under Angle Jitter, choose Direction from the Control drop down box.

Close the brush palette.

Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool from the tools palette

On the Options Bar select Style: Fixed Size and type in 600px as height and width

Click on the document to create the selection. You can move your cursor inside the selection and drag it to center it on your canvas if needed.

Click on the Paths tab in the Layers Palette, and click on the Make Work Path icon at the bottom of the palette to create a Work Path.

Right click on the highlighted area and choose Stroke Path

With Brush selected, choose OK

The brush we created will stroke the path of the circle.

Click in a blank area of the paths palette to deselect the path and switch back to the layers palette.
Create a new layer using the New Layer icon on the palette

Select the Elliptical marquee tool and type in 425 x425px and click on the document to create a selection, move the selection if needed to center it within the first layer, and then use the ALT+Backspace keys to fill the selection. CTRL+D to deselect.

Create a new layer and then choose the Custom Shape Tool on the tools palette.

On the Options Bar make sure Fill Pixels is selected.

From the Custom Shape menu, load the standard Shapes set. (You can load them from the Photoshop> Presets> Shapes folder)

Select the flower shape, and hit X on your keyboard to change the foreground color from black to white.

Hold SHIFT to maintain proportion and click and drag to create the flower shape. Select the move tool to reposition if required.

Create a new layer, press X on your keyboard to swap foreground color and select the next shape, draw it out and reposition as desired.

Create a new layer, press X on your keyboard to swap foreground color and select the Elliptical marquee tool. On the options bar, change the fixed size to 100x100px and click on the document to create the selection. Fill the selection by using ALT+ backspace and reposition.

Create a new layer, press X on your keyboard and choose the line tool from the tools palette.

On the Options bar, make sure Fill Pixels is selected and choose 8px as the Weight

Now draw a line from each of the outer shapes to the center of the flower. You don’t have to be precise.

Drag the completed spoke layer behind the other shapes.

To create a stem, create a new layer, increase the weight of the line tool to around 25px and draw a stem.

Create a new layer and choose the custom shape tool, find the spade shape and then click and draw to add to your document. Select the move tool and rotate the shape to create a leaf for the stem.

Save this flower as a PSD with the layers intact.

Now you can clip patterned papers to your flower to create a cute accent. Select each layer in turn, open and drag in a new patterned paper.

Rearrange, reposition or add new shapes to create a unique flower garden
