ELEMENT : Aged Frame

This tutorial will show you how to create an aged paper frame.
Create a new canvas at 8x8 inch 300ppi
Insert> Shape> Square
Format> Resize Object to fit Canvas> Stretch to fit
Remove the line
Select the paint bucket and More Colors. B:Ive selected a cream color. R:223; G:232; B:209 H38; S85; L:208


Go to Effects> Filters>All Filters> Bumps and Craters


Click on Advanced Options
Click the Brush Flyout menu and select Pencil 4C
Make adjustments to the settings as shown


Click Done and Done


Select the Marquee Tool and draw out the frame at the desired size larger than your photo.


Select the minus selection mode and draw the inner frame edge.


Select Invert and then press delete on your keyboard


Choose TouchUp>Colorize Brush


Select a color, a soft brush and brush over the outer and inner edges of the frame. Click Done.


Go to Effects> Filters> All Filters
There are a number of filters that provide a good effect when the Advanced Options are tweaked
Dry Rag



Chalk: Blocky Fine



Used here is Particle Board


Click Done. You could use the frame at this point to good effect, or add a few extra touches.
Go to Edit> Duplicate to make a copy of the frame
Select File> Get Picture from Gallery> Backgrounds>Textures and find and select the texture Beige and Brown Fibers Bkgd then click Open


With duplicate frame selected choose Effects> Fill with color or texture>Picture


Follow the prompts to fill the frame with the gallery picture
Adjust the transparency of the duplicate frame to suit, 87 is used here.


Flatten the two layers together.
You can add some extra character by creating small tears and using the dodge and burn brush.
Add your picture (the Sepia filter was applied to this color photo)
